In the indicative and infinitive forms of verbs of the second conjugation (as in 1B verbs with consonant stems) three different stress patterns are found, as outlined below.

to place; порaзи́ть, to strike; посeли́ть, to settle; посeти́ть, to visit; прeкрaти́ть, to stop, discontinue; принaдлeжáть, to belong; прости́ть, to forgive; рeши́ть, to decide, solve; свистéть, to whistle; сидéть, to sit; стоя́ть, to stand; стрeми́ться, to strive; стучáть, to knock; укроти́ть, to tame.
